By: Amir H. Abolfath

Region: Middle East

Site: Natanz - Iran

Date: December 2010

A meteor streaks the sky of Zagros Mountains in Iran near the prominent figure of the Big Dipper's seven stars. The yellow light at the far right is the nearby city of Natanz. This meteor is captured during the Geminid meteor shower from snow-covered slopes of Karkas Mountains. With its peak activity on December 13/14, Geminids make one of the best meteor showers of the year. Amir Abolfath -
