Moon and Venus Conjunction

Time-lapse video: On this crisp and clear spring morning the waning crescent moon is followed closely by the bright planet Venus as they rise together in conjunction behind the Bookcliff Mountains of western Colorado. Delicate clouds shift around and change shape in silhouette as the sky brightens with the day's first twilight. Sunlight reflected off of the Earth illuminates the dark side of the moon, revealing details on the shadowy lunar surface. Back in the 1500's this double reflection of sunlight from Earth to the moon was described by Leonardo Da Vinci as 'Earthshine'. Thad V'Soske/Cosmotions.com
