The full moon rises at dusk over the New Delhi's Rajpath (Royal Avenue) and the India Gate (an iconic national monument built in 1931). From the photographer: "The Holi festival in India is celebrated near the full moon time approaching the vernal equinox, the beginning of spring. The festival date varies every year, per the Hindu calendar, and typically comes in March, sometimes February. Holi is a spring festival also known as festival of colors, and sometimes festival of love. It is an ancient Hindu religious festival which has become popular with non-Hindus in many parts of South Asia, as well as people of other communities. It is primarily observed in India, Nepal, and other Hindu populations or people of Indian origin. In the recent time the festival has also spread in parts of Europe and North America as a spring celebration of love, frolic and colors." Ajay Talwar
