North America Nebula and the Hoodoos

By: Wally Pacholka

Region: Americas

Site: Bryce Canyon - USA

Date: May 2013

In a starry night of Bryce Canyon National Park in Utah, USA, the Milky Way in constellation Cygnus and notable red emission nebula known as the North America appear over bizarre rock formations called hoodoos. Towers of weathered, eroded sedimentary rock, hoodoos are found in arid regions of planet Earth and are particularly abundant in the southern Utah. Bright stars in the view are Deneb (middle left) at the tail of Cygnus, the Swan, and Altair (right) in Aquila, marking the neck of the Eagle. Wally Pacholka, Astropics.com
