Outshining Winter Stars By: Tunc Tezel |
Region: Middle East Site: Alborz Mountains - Iran Spot: Firouzkooh Date: 2012 September 15 | |||
|
Bright stars of northern hemisphere's winter rise over narrow valleys carved inside Alborz Mountains near Firuzkuh in northern Iran. The "star" outshining every other star in this view is in fact none other than planet Jupiter. Constellation Taurus is the home for Jupiter in the winter of 2012-3. Jupiter is generally the second brightest planet in our night sky after Venus. To identify other objects and stars are in this view click on constellation icon above the image. Tunc Tezel
