Stepwell Evening View

By: Ajay Talwar

Region: Asia

Site: Delhi - India

Date: 2012 March 14

The two brightest planets of the night sky, Venus (the brighter) and Jupiter, in a close conjunction in the evening sky of India. Bright stars in the constellations Orion and Taurus are also captured in this view from an ancient stepwell in the suburbs of Delhi. Stepwells (Baoli in Hindi) are traditional wells or ponds in which the water can be reached by descending a set of steps. The beautiful planetary conjunction of Venus and Jupiter was an eye-catching view from all around the planet during March 2012. Ajay Talwar -
