Space Station over Massachusetts

Region: Americas

Site: Massachusetts - USA

Date: 2012 January 3

In this January evening of northeastern United States, the International Space Station crosses the sky and pass between the Moon and Jupiter. The digital image is made of several multi-second exposures one after the other with only a second between each shot, which caused the gaps in the trail of the fast moving ISS. The space station, home to minimum 3 astronauts at any time, is located at about 350 km above the ground, orbiting our planet each 90 minutes at speed of about 28,000 km/h. Dennis di Cicco
