Bavarian View of Sirius

By: Bernd Proschold

Region: Europe

Site: Bavaria - Germany

Sirius, the brightest star in the night sky, and its related constellation Canis Major (the big dog) stand above Bavarian Alps as seen from a mountain top about 75 km south of Munich, Germany. See this view in a beautiful time-lapse video. As noted by the photographer "Between October and February hazy days are common in Central Europe. But the clouds are often quite low so that the Alps stick out of a sea of clouds. Bernd Proeschold was lucky to find his shooting location just above the cloud cover." Bernd Proschold/
