Skygazing From Austrian Alps

Starry Sky of Austrian Alps as photographed from Ferien Observatory of a well-located Guest House Alpenhof in Emberger Alm, Carinthia. The image is made during a TWAN imaging/lecturing tour in Austria. Above this roll-off observatory and the amateur astronomers the Milky Way is captured from star Sirius (left) to Orion, Taurus, and Perseus. The large cone-shape light elongated upward from the western horizon is the zodiacal light; sunlight reflection from dust particles in the Solar System plane. See this scene in an all-sky fisheye image. Babak Tafreshi/
