Lunar Eclipse above Yellowknife By: Yuichi Takasaka |
Region: Americas Site: Northwest Territories - Canada Date: 2010 December 21 | |||
|
In 2010, on the night of winter solstice in the northern hemisphere (Dec. 20/21), a total lunar eclipse took place. Here the TWAN photographer has captured the eclipse by a sequence of digital images in time-lapse photography technique (see this view in a time-lapse video). The resulted startrail image shows how the bright Full Moon has gradually fainted to a red disc during the total eclipse, as seen above snow-covered landscape of Yellowknife in northern Canada. Other notable trails in the image include stars of constellatin Orion below the Moon. Yuichi Takasaka/Blue-moon.ca
