Big Dipper and Spring Blossoms |
Region: Middle East Site: Alborz Mountains - Iran Date: April 2010 | |||
|
Starry sky of Alborz Mountains above Spring blossoms in April. The seven stars of Big Dipper (a prominent figure or asterism in the constellation Ursa Major) are easy to find high above the tree. Two stars at head of the dipper are known as Pointers as they point toward the Polaris (Pole Star), visible here at the upper left of the tree. If you continue the arc of the Dipper's handle you reach bright star Arcturus (Alpha Bootes), at left edge of the image. Oshin Zakarian/Dreamview.net
