Messier Marathon in Action

Region: Middle East

Site: Bahram Palace - Iran

Date: April 2008

Time-lapse video: Gripped by an astronomical spring fever, many northern hemisphere stargazers embark on a Messier Marathon. Completing the marathon requires viewing all 110 objects in 18th century French astronomer Charles Messier's catalog in one glorious dusk-to-dawn observing run, favorably near the March equinox. This video is made of several hundred continues shots made during six hours of Iran Messier marathon in 2008. It was recorded from the isolated, ancient Bahram Palace in northern Iran's Kavir National Park. See this view in a stunning startrail image. Amir Abolfath -
