The Small Magellanic Cloud (a dwarf neighboring galaxy some 200,000 light years away) and a meteor (only ~100km above) are captured in this view from the moon illuminated Rano Kau, a 324 m high extinct volcano that forms the southwestern headland of Easter Island. It was formed between 150,000 and 210,000 years ago, interestingly about the same time when the current light of the Magellanic Cloud in the Earth sky started its cosmic voyage toward us.
