3D Video of Paranal By: Stephane Guisard |
Region: Americas Site: Atacama Desert - Chile Date: September 2009 | |||

Time-lapse video: In a moonlit night of Atacama Desert in Chile, the Very Large Telescope (VLT) array on Cerro Paranal explores the universe. To view the three dimensional depth of this unique Anaglyph video you should use a 3D glasses (made of two opposite color filters, usually red and cyan). Because of its high altitude, nearly non-existent cloud cover, and lack of light pollution and radio interference from the very widely spaced cities, the site is one of the best places in the world to conduct astronomical observations. Visible in the foreground are four 8-meter VLT telescopes and smaller auxiliary telescopes that join the array. Stephane Guisard - Astrosurf.com/sguisard
