As seen on Astronomy Picture of the Day the constellations Scorpius and Sagittarius and the Summer Milky Way on the right side along with the dazzling planet Jupiter on the left are photographed above the Badlands National Park in southwest South Dakota, USA. For 11,000 years, Native Americans have used this area for their hunting grounds. Badlands is a type of arid terrain where softer sedimentary rocks and clay-rich soils have been extensively eroded by wind and water.
