Winter stars trail above a historic Pagoda in Iksan, Korea. A pagoda is an English word for a tiered tower with multiple eaves common in East Asia. A pagoda is the general term in the English language for a tiered tower with multiple eaves common in China, Japan, Korea, Vietnam, and other parts of Asia. While some pagodas are used as Taoist houses of worship, most of them were for religious purpose, most commonly Buddhist, and were often located in or near temples. As noted by the photographer "Originally there was a pagoda made of wood thousands years ago. But this stone pagoda established at Goryeo dynasty, an ancient Korean state (918-1392)."
