Tungurahua, Ecuador

From the photographer: "In the backdrop is the highly active Tungurahua volcano. Its most recent eruption, just years ago, devastated the mountainside and the town below. Since then, caretakers have built a new refuge, but the risk of eruption is still imminent. I took this picture while acclimatizing for the summit the night before. The altitude is 3,800 meters while the summit rounds off just above 5,000 meters."
