From the photographer: "The image was taken as the thin crescent Moon with Earthshine was setting on the Oak Ridges Moraine across Lake Wilcox, Richmond Hill, Ontario. Venus had been hidden by the thin strip of cloud but appeared as it slipped below the cloud while Mercury remained above."
Technical details: Single-exposure. Canon T2i, manual mode, 2 second exposure at ISO 200, Canon 50mm f/1.8 lens at f/5.6. Image cropped to 81% of original (4217x2925) to emphasize the planets.
