Clashing Clouds

By: Warren H. Finlay

Hawaii, USA

2015 March 23

From the photographer: "Kilauea in Hawaii is the most active volcano on earth. Its easy accessibility, and regular eruptions, bring millions of people to view it every year. When this photo was taken, a lake of lava deep inside an inner crater glowed intensely, lighting the volcano's smoke plume from below with an eerie orange glow. Clouds moving in from the right are lit by moonlight from above. Sirius, the brightest star in the night sky can be seen glowing serenely near the top of the photo, high above the clashing clouds."
