The Moon and Misterious Red Waves

By: Luis Argerich

Miramar, Argentina

2011 October 29

From the photographer: "The photo shows the young crescent moon about to set behind some thin clouds. The moon is behind the clouds and illuminating the surroundings. A band of the setting Milky Way can be seen near the top of the photo. The most curious thing is the glow of the waves that is produced by artificial light sources just behind the cliffs, the lights are usually a problem contaminating the sky but they can also contaminate the water! Taken with a Canon 5DII ISO3200 5 sec. of exposure."
