From the photographer: "A side by side comparison of the same area of sky showing the Milky Way. The light pollution shot was taken in a rural location that is fairly dark with noticeable light domes to the South, East, and West from the surrounding cities. A stray light from an old building illustrates the problem of unused light shining up and outward into the sky. The dark sky scene was photographed From the Astronomy Observation Field at Cherry Springs State Park in Pennsylvania, USA, which is designated as an International Dark Sky Park."
