Aloe & Milky Way

By: Luis Argerich

Miramar, Argentina

2012 March 26

From the photographer: "The photo shows the Milky Way standing behind a Giant Aloe tree from Miramar, Argentina. It's a single exposure using a wide angle lens without tracking. The constellations and objects of the southern milky way are easy to spot. From top to bottom we can see the Eta Carina Nebula, the Southern Cross and the dark Coalsack Nebula, Alpha & Beta Centauri, and then part of Scorpius and Sagitarius with the Lagoon Nebula. Behind the horizon is the ocean just a few meters away from the photo. This is one of the few forest that are just next to the ocean in Argentina."
