Aurora over Southern Germany

By: Roman Breisch

Sittenbach/Glonntal, Germany

2011 October 25

From the photographer: "On the morning of October 25th, 2011, I succeeded to get a photo of an aurora for the 3rd time in a row within the prior 4 weeks. Normally, auroras can't be seen here in the southern part of Germany. This time it was not just a photographic event but a colorful show for the naked eyes - which did last for over 2 hours and was ended by upcoming clouds. The location of Sittenbach is found right in the middle between the 2 cities of Munich in the East and Augsburg in the west and gives the foreground in this photo. The clouds in the image are reflecting the light pollution of the nearby cities."
