By: Miguel Claro

Portinhod da Arrabida, Portugal

2011 June 15

From the photographer: "The moon was already in total eclipse when it rose above the horizon from this location in Portugal totality, and was first visible during the time of nautical (middle) twilight. In the picture we can see the different tone of the track of the eclipse, as the moon is moving out of the shadow cone of Earth. This image was obtained in Portinho Arrabida, Portugal, near the Atlantic Ocean. I wrote in the sand with a rock, the phenomenon that was happening... a 'Moon Eclipse'." - Miguel Claro
