The Cathedral and the Moon By: Mate Urban |
| |||
From the photographer "The Cathedral (of Seville) is one of the most famous buildings of Andalusia (Spain). Once it was a Western Gothic Church and after 1172 it was the mosque of Almohad. Giralda is the symbol of the city. A 97-meters tall tower was the minaret of the mosque. The minaret was built in 1184 by Abu Yusuf. He was the ruler of Seville. Instead of stairs there was only a slight upward ramp so that the first muezzin could go up on a horse as he was too old to walk. Up there he called upon his followers to pray." - Mate Urban All TWAN photos and videos are copyrighted.
