More details from the photographer: "31st December: Conjunction at its best; the part of the Moon lit by
light from Earth is visible too; the grey heron is still busy fishing.
Unable to set camera parameters accurately. Though I could not see the
large mosquitoes around, I was surrounded and harassed by a nebulae of
millimeter size Marshian midgets, whose bite inflame, get infected and
last for at least a week (had forgotten my mosquito screen jacket)." Karim Z. Baba-Kishi
